Anyone else feel like Feb was just the longest Feb this year? I feel like it took forever for this month to end. But so much happened, I guess that’s why it feels that way.
There’s a lot of things that are suppose to be going on this month, so I’m hoping they actually happen. Tums birthday is this month, Easter is at the beginning of April, then my birthday. Thank goodness it’s NOT on Easter this year at least! There are a few book releases I’m excited about as well!
I discovered cozy gaming and looked more into ways to self improve in Feb, so I’m really excited about the things I’m planning in March — or at least as excited as a person who has to do shadow work can get (ain’t nothing exciting about shadow work).
〉 Work on getting my mic to work so I can stream Animal Crossing
I’m trying not to overwhelm myself, esp since the next two months are generally really busy for me to begin with. But there are a few key things I do want to try and get done.
March Book Releases I’m Excited About;
There are so many new releases coming out in March! I know I forgot a few… I definitely forgot to include the one by Christina Lauren! But these are the YA reads I’m super excited about!
I’ll be doing Middle Grade March again this year. I’ll somehow find a way to squeeze some of these books in this month if not next. I know adding these to my already huge middle grade TBR is ambitious.
Here’s to hoping March will be productive!
What are some things you want to accomplish this month?
Like I did with Hulu, I figured I would do one for Netflix (and possibly Amazon and movies) as well.
I guess I should had changed the Hulu one to Summer instead of Spring, but you guys know what I mean. I feel like May is that inbetween month anyway.
I have 11 on my Queue list for Netflix. I’m definitely not going to get through all of them but here are a few I’m hoping to watch this season!
Cosmosis a show a good friend of mine actually introduced me to during a dark period of my life 5 years ago. It was super interesting. I think I ended up watching KUWTK and Awkward and I kind of just stopped watching this one.
I use to start my mornings with an episode and have it run while I was doing homework. Sometimes I get obsessed with learning. But this is a pretty interesting show, if you’re into stuff like this.
Parks and Rec is a show that I always told myself I’d watch eventually. I watched about 3 episodes some time last summer, it was entertaining enough but I wasn’t like HOOKED. I just know this show is known for its memes lol.
FRIENDSis hands down one of my favorite all time shows. I don’t know how many times I’ve watched this entire series but it’s legendary. It’s often background noise if anything but when I’m really sad I binge FRIENDS until I feel motivated enough to get up and start my day lol. FRIENDS is that friend that’s just always there when you need them!
Girl Meets Worldwas a show I was SUPER excited for when I heard it was going to become a thing! I remember watching the first episode but I don’t remember it. Boy Meets World was my shit growing up, it was one of my favorite TGIF shows and shows in general! Although Topanga and Corey gave you serious unrealistic expectations in childhood relationships and Corey and Shaun gave you serious unrealistic expectations in friendships it was still a really feel good show!
I have pretty high hopes for this!
Riverdaleis a show I’ve been hearing A LOT about lately!
I guess it’s suppose to be based on the Archie comics? I’m not really sure. But this screen cap makes it look like some edgy Vampire Diaries sort of shit. Archie comics were definitely something I read and collected as a kid but I’m a little nervous to go into this. I’m scare it won’t be what I’m thinking it is lol!
Plus I’m not a fan of gore and dark themed shows or movies.
Minus Shadowhunters cause I mean come on… it’s Jace and Bane. How can you say no to those two?!
The New Legends of Monkeyis something I’ve never heard of. But it’s giving me The Forbidden Kingdom (you know with Jackie Chan… loved that movie) vibes.
Aggrestsukois literally all over social media these days. I brought this up to Bubba a few days ago and he wasn’t digging the hover preview but I’m SUPER curious to know what this about. Apparently she’s an adult red panda who works in a city? I don’t know and I haven’t bothered reading anything on it until I watch it lol.
I know The Clone Wars is not nothing new at all but I’ve never watched it! Crazy right! I’m a huge Star Wars fan and the fact I’ve never seen this slightly bothers me! Especially because we see their Funko Pop’s a lot when we’re out and I just wanna know who these characters are dammit!
I’ve never heard of Being Human either, I don’t think? But I’m a huge fan of paranormal young adult books and this looks like that. But in a TV series format. I’m just hoping it’s not even a little bit creepy or dark and edgy. Because it sounds really interesting.
A Series of Unfortunate Events was a show I was looking forward to a few years ago when it first came out and I don’t know, I guess it was around the time I stopped watching Netflix cause I just never ended up watching it. I haven’t read the books either so I’m not really sure what to expect.
Girlbosslooks super interesting! As a blogger and former Network Marketing Marketer (is that a title?!) the term girlboss obviously always appealed to me! I even read that one book titled Girlboss! I’m sure the book and this show aren’t related in any way because I think one is about a young adult. Wait, I just looked it up. I lied. It’s inspired by.
I just started watching Aggretsuko, I couldn’t resist!
“Your chill game is something to behold,”
It’s so cute!
And I’m starting to think Bubba is the responsible type. I mean he is, but man does this second episode apply to him lol!
I have a slight thing against watching movies or really really long tv shows, I’m definitely not the type to binge watch anything unless it’s on a tablet next to my laptop or if I’m REALLY sick to the point where I literally CAN’T get up. I try to be better at watching things but it’s definitely hard for me to. I always feel like there’s something else, something more productive I could be doing. I have a hard time with giving myself downtime and just relaxing.
I recently browsed through Hulu and saw so many throwback and so many interesting things I’d like to give a go! I might end up breaking this up into different sections but for now here’s my general Spring Hulu Queue list!
Sophie La Girafe
I spotted Sophie at Target last fall when I was pregnant and I remember wanting to get some of her stuff for A, my cat’s name is Sophie so I thought it would be a cute little thing. Even though we lost A, I still want to go back and pick up some Sophie stuff at some point for whenever I get pregnant again. It’s just one of those weird life things.
I saw she had a TV show, it only has one episode so far but I’m curious to see what it’s about!
Tiny Toon Adventures
THIS. Was my CHILDHOOD!
I loved this show as a kid and I was so excited to see it up on Hulu! I’ve went back and watched old childhood favs before only to realize they weren’t as funny/what I remembered them to be but it’s still nice to be able to look back at what little Hazel thought was snarky or funny or entertaining!
Over The Garden Wall
I use to collect these comics, like 2-3 years ago! I didn’t know what it was and I haven’t even read those yet but I’ve been seeing a bit of Over The Garden Wall stuff popping up at places like Hot Topic and now I see they have a show?! I’m super curious to see what this is about!
This Is Us
I admit, I don’t really know exactly what this is about except it was filed under hopeless romantic. I’m hoping I don’t regret putting this on my queue! I’ve heard a few things about this awhile back, but I barely remember what anyone has said. Eep.
Oh my early high school days!
This show (along with One Tree Hill) had inspired SO MANY emotional blog posts when I was in high school — back when I use to talk about my feelings on a pretty daily basis and when I use to reflect like I was a damn mirror.
I had an ex at the time who didn’t like the show and never wanted me to talk about it — he was convinced the show was influencing me to be mean to him and to break up with him. He was literally psycho. And looking back on it now, it’s crazy to think someone would actually THINK that.
I loved this show so much! I literally can’t wait to rewatch it all ♥.
Awkward was my guilty pleasure show (along with Keeping Up With The Kardashians) during my separation/divorce. I don’t remember where I left off at… and I don’t remember WHY but I absolutely ADORED this show. Jenna’s BFF Tamara was my favorite character. Along with Jake. #TeamJake! Oh and #TeamCollin. #BEGONEMATTY.
I know I said I’d get back into The Mortal Instruments series after I “took a break” 4 years ago because dammit Valentine and Sebastian were too intense for me. But I follow them on Twitter and seeing sneak peeks for upcoming episodes has me SUPER curious about where this show is going and what’s happening. I’m afraid of bookish spoilers but I’ll live lol!
Fresh Off The Boat
I was watching this for awhile, when it first aired. I don’t know why I stopped but I remember it was funny af. The little boy needs his ass whooped lmao! With talk of Crazy Rich Asians it brought my attention back to this and how I need to start catching up on my American Asian shows (we don’t have very many)!
I don’t think I’ve heard ANYTHING about this one. But I mean that series photo and the fact it’s on FreeForm makes me think it’s some sort of young adult series that’s meant to be relatable. So, why not?
I know, I know. This show has been around FOREVER.
I’ve never seen not one episode. I’ve seen memes, but not any of the episodes. This also applies to How I Met Your Mother. I don’t know why! They just were shows I guess I wasn’t interested in back when they were “the thing” everyone was watching!
And now, years later, I’m curious to know what the hype about this one is!
Tasting Our Roots
I’m a sucker for food shows.
And while this one isn’t something exciting like Iron Chef and not exactly a food documentary, it still sounds really interesting. As someone who was previously a culinary major and misses that life so so much, I’m super interested to see where this show goes!
I’ve always been a sucker for The Food Network and Good Eats has always been one of my favorite shows ever since my family decided to get cable and bless me with The Food Network. The science behind food is always so interesting to me! So I totally sit there glued to the screen when it comes to this show just soaking up all that information!
Are there any shows you would like to suggest me to check out on Hulu this season?
This photo pretty much sums me up nicely! But that Wizard of Oz calendar thing is definitely one of my favorite gifts from Bubba. Sometimes I forget to change it, but I think I’ll keep it on April 12th for awhile.
But thanks calendar thing, I did have a great and powerful day!
Last year I told Bubba that Easter was one of my favorite hoildays; my mom always made sure we had Easter baskets and as I got older she started adding Tulips to my Easter basket gifts. But when I moved away to work for Disney, she wasn’t there to set up an Easter basket for me (though some years she would ship me one) and so I started making Easter baskets for myself.
(Fun Fact: Despite I was married before for pretty much 11 years, my ex husband never ONCE made me an Easter basket. Then again it took divorce papers to actually buy me a birthday gift for the first time ever so who knows.)
Last year Bubba made me an Easter basket claiming I can’t make them for myself so he put together a basket and brought it with him to Disney World since we were spending my birthday there and he was flying out on Easter.
To this day, I have no idea how he fit that giant basket into his duffel bag.
I am a person of tradition; I can’t help it. It’s how I cope with my anxiety and how I push through the times I’m feeling suicidal/that life isn’t worth living. It gives me something to look forward to.
Traditions have always been a big part of my mom’s life too, and she always made sure we did these traditions every year.
In that sort of sense, I have Spring Must Haves meaning every Spring I grab for these items. Some of I buy every time around this year (I have one of these for Fall as well) and others are discontinued but I still enjoy them every Spring.
These Egg Truffles from See’s Candies is one of those things I grab every single year. This started in 2015 so it’s a fairly new tradition. I’m a sucker for anything white chocolate and lemon. So put the two together into a truffle and of course I’m going to fall in love! I’m also a fan of anything dark chocolate and raspberry but I don’t remember that truffle all too much sadly, I just know I always finish the lemon ones in this set first. Every single year.
Sour Bunnies from Williams Sonoma is my Spring/Easter JAMMMM. I honestly don’t remember when this tradition started — 2008? 2010? This one has been around for a long while! I remember taste testing these in stores and I wanted a whole bag but my ex husband at the time was against me buying anything that would make me happy basically and shoved me out of the store before I could. So I bought myself a bag online and hid it (something I did often though it helped we didn’t live together for another few months). And I remember the next year buying myself 2 bags.
These come in 3 flavors; the pink is grapefruit, the green is key lime and the yellow is lemon. Tbh I’m only here for the key lime so imagine my excitement when I walked into WS to buy these a few weeks ago and I found a damn near ALL GREEN BAG. I might had squealed. My boyfriend didn’t understand what I was so hyped about so I explained it. He’s not a fan of sour candy so this bag is pretty much all for me because a word of caution: THESE BABIES ARE SOUUUUUUUR! I am a sucker for sour candies and especially sour gummies.
Something I grab also every year is Cadbury Mini Eggs.
This tradition started in 2002 when my best friend Sammie at the time had grabbed a bag from Target before we decided to sit in front of my boyfriend at the time’s house. He was on house arrest (don’t ask) and so since he couldn’t come hang out with us, we decided to go hang out with him (he literally lived like maybe 5 blocks from my parent’s house) however his parents also said no visitors and he couldn’t step outside the house.
So we snacked on these while we sat on his sidewalk and chatted it up with him as he stuck his head out the window lmao. My childhood was definitely interesting.
But since then these have been a repeat buy, they’re SO GOOD. And they’re the perfect comfort chocolate when your period has you feeling all kinds of weird and sad ways.
One of the traditions my mom had was Easter baskets.
I’m not sure when my brother exactly stopped wanting Easter baskets but I know that even now at almost 33 it’s still something I often look forward to.
When I was married my ex never made me an Easter basket, ever. I always made them for the both of us and I didn’t mind, it was my tradition anyway.
So every year I would make myself an Easter basket. And in it I would include a few things; one being a hollow bunny with icing eyes. Like Baby Binks usually. I didn’t opt for him because Target didn’t carry him this year, instead I thought of trying something new — a hollow squirrel. Typically as long as it’s a hollow piece of chocolate, it works. Though over the year it’s always been a Baby Binks.
This kind of blurs in with Valentine’s Day as well but these are my two favorite nail polish shades for Spring; Eternal Optimist by Essie and Starfish by Sinful Colors.
I haven’t painted my nails pink this year just yet and my Easter dress is mint green so… yeah. I meannn I might just paint them pink anyway.
Sugared Peony Petals from Bath & Body Works is hands down one of my favorite floral candle scents — ever! Well besides anything Lavender. I’m so sad that this was only around for Spring of 2016. This is actually my only back up left. I have a mini version but the throw isn’t as epic as the 3 wick one. And this candle started my love for Peony!
I have yet to find a dupe that smells as good as this one!
I normally just have this one laying around as decor. Which is fine cause even removing the lid gives off a nice throw either way.
But really Bath & Body Works, PLEASE BRING THIS BACK!
Pulled Taffy and Rock Candy wax melts from Walmart are also my favorite scents to melt in the Spring time. They’re really fruity light scents that remind you of sunny days! There was also a Pink Velvet one that came out around this time (these have been a part of my life since 2016 as well) but I have no idea where that melt of mine has gone off to!
I also buy Krispy Kreme donuts every Easter season but we haven’t gone to grab those yet so no photo. Maybe when we do I’ll insert a photo here and edit the post since I think that’s happening Saturday!
